"Ecce Homo is silent...a silence that communicates and fills the room."  Nadine’s work on Ecce Homo reveals a deep, religious sense of pain, suffering, the proximity to death, and an overarching, much more human sadness. Nadine‘s paintings are the fruit of observation of various feelings experimented throughout many years of her career as a painter. For the first time, Nadine treats religious themes, and chooses Christ and his transcendent sacrifice as the main subject of her pictures to embody the mundane suffering of human beings, animals, plants, the whole world in general. The face of Christ symbolizes the pain of all creatures. Christ’s face is indeed the real protagonist of Ecce Homo. His eyes look far, away from the viewers, as if they were trying to save us from the suffering surrounding us all, but also to escape from himself the inevitable sacrifice he is on to face. Nadine’s Ecce Homo is silent, yet communicates all sorts of human feelings: fear, sorrow, anger, indignation, hope, love... The paintings are done with oil and acrylic on canvas, and the drawings are created with acrylic or ink on paper, reflecting Nadine’s strength and finesse - she works swiftly and with decision - her figures allowing the observer to complete their meaning. Her paintings do not necessarily reproduce reality, but transmit a lot of feelings. Some of her strokes show the Cross of Christ, some show the pain and the suffering. Others, like the yellow and the blue paintings, evoke the sorrow of Ukraine and the world facing war. Nadine’s Christs are in silence... a silence that communicates and fills the space in the room. Talking to Nadine, one can perceive a big responsibility and a big sense of duty... allow yourself to experience this strength, the suffering, and the power of Nadine’s Ecce Homo. - Rick Serrano Bärbel Aubert accueillera les Amis des Musées pour ce Midi de l'Art.
