 Curator : Christophe Gallois, assisted by Marion Vergin and Maria Fernanda Barrales  Guided visit in English in presence of the artist. Coinciding with May 2019, the European Month of Photography, Mudam Luxembourg – Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean presents a monographic exhibition for one of the most important photographers of her generation, LaToya Ruby Frazier (*1982). Since the early 2000s this American artist has developed a documentary practice that is both personal and engaged with the social, political, and economic realities of contemporary societies. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with an essay by Elvan Zabunyan, art historian and critic, and professor at the University of Rennes 2, and an interview with LaToya Ruby Frazier, published by Mudam in collaboration with Mousse Publishing (June 2019).  (Visual : LaToya Ruby Frazier & Gavin Brown's Enterprise - Rally to Potest - UPMC East - July 2012 - 2012 - New York / Rome). Biographical note LaToya Ruby Frazier was born in 1982 in Braddock, Pennsylvania, USA. Her work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at Musée des Arts Contemporains in Hornu (2017), CAPC in Bordeaux (2016), Carré d’art in Nîmes (2015), the Brooklyn Museum in New York, and the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston (2013). Frazier has also participated in the 56th Venice Biennale (2015), the 8th Busan Biennale (2014) or the 76th Whitney Biennial (2012). The artist has received numerous accolades including the Gordon Parks Foundation Award in 2016 and the MacArthur Fellowship in 2015. In the same year the International Center of Photography in New York awarded her the Infinity Award for her book The Notion of Family (Aperture, 2014).  Florence Reckinger will welcome the Amis des Musées for this Midi de l'Art.
