Maxim Kantor - Mad Acrobat (Waiting list)

2025-05-16 15:00:00 2025-05-16 15:00:00 Maxim Kantor - Mad Acrobat (Waiting list) Galerie Simoncini - 6, rue Notre-Dame, Luxembourg (1648) Exhibition du 17.05.2025 until 05.07.2025 Guided visit in English by the artist, followed by the opening of the exhibition. The acrobat is a victim of his own flexibility - he has become entangled in his own body, has tied himself in a knot, and bites his own leg out of impotence in a kind of auto-cannibalism. Our troubled times, our unbalanced existence deserve such a portrait. And could it be a portrait of Europe? In this exhibition Maxim shows several variants of madness: from a mad acrobat, whose madness is evident, to the manifestations of the clearest reason, which, however, is so original that it appears to be madness. Here we have Don Quixote, persistently enlightening Sancho, to whom science does not go in favour. Here is the mad Van Gogh, probably of the period of his last paintings. Here is the courageous Cyrano de Bergerac, who was considered mad by many because he did never change himself. And finally, the austere Dante, who was said to have been to Hell and come back from it. How could a normal person do such a thing? In our mad world, all these variants of madness coexist together. The exhibition also includes paintings depicting a nest in the branches of a dense forest: this is how a family of people, who love one another, lost in a crazy world, warms their shelter. - Visual : Maxim Kantor - Mad acrobat - 2025 - 200x120 cm - Oil on canvas VERY IMPORTANT !
