The actress Elsa Rauchs reads poems by Etel Adnan, selected from the book To look at the sea is to become what one is.
Ranging between essay, fiction, poetry, memoir, feminist manifesto, and philosophical treatise, while often challenging the conventions of genre, Etel Adnan's literary works give voice to six decades of violence in the Arab world, in particular the author's native Beirut.
